Tips to Avoid Getting Burned

  1. WITHHOLD PAYMENT until you have established communications with the seller and verified a working phone number. EBay provides a grace period for communications after auction close. Never "pay within minutes".


  2. CHECK FOR NEGATIVE SELLER FEEDBACK and read it all carefully before you bid.


  3. If you are a casual eBay shopper then NOBODY CARES about your buyer feedback rating. It's not like the seller can choose who the high-bidder is; as long as you agree to pay them before they ship they don't have the right to complain.


  4. ALWAYS GET INSURANCE AND TRACKING NUMBERS if you don't use PayPal.


  5. NEVER BE PUT OFF FOR MORE THAN TWO WEEKS or you risk being unable to stop the credit card transaction.
