I've just passed 100 transactions on ebay and overall has been a good experience. I have however lately run into some shenanigans from a very misrepresented description of damage, hidden in pics, to a vveeerryyy slow shipper. I have learned and know many tricks and tips to ebaying so generally it is a good experience. The ethics of some of these people is interesting. The lying seller tried to blackmail me into leaving positive feedback by saying he would leave negative if I did. For what, paying promptly and opening the box. He doesn't have a leg to stand on. I gave him a chance to do the right thing and finally left a negative. He has yet to respond. I am confident the slow shipper will come through, it's going on the third week. I think this is an excellent resource and it should be developed and promoted. I look forward to giving my .02! :P

New in town?

I'm here to learn more about making money on eBay and avoiding scams. I chose to buy an item through a "Second Chance Offer" for the first time. The seller (allegedly from New Jersey) said she was on a business trip in Italy and to wire her the money there, which I did. She acknowledged in an email that she received the money and stated that her husband, who was in New Jersey, would ship the item. That was the last I heard from her in spite of emails to her requesting shipping tracking number, etc. I thought I was being considerate by giving her the benefit of the doubt on shipping time, but to my horror, I discovered that the time limit for receiving a refund for a "Second Chance Offer" gone wrong had expired! Also, I believe I saw somewhere in the VERY fine print that Second Chance Offers are considered transactions outside of eBay and therefore not subject to dispute or rating the other party involved in the transaction. Do I have any recourse other than warning others about her on this website?

Greetings from SoCAL! :)

Hey everyone! Mostly as a buyer but have sold inlaw's near new car and various other small items.

Have over 200 feedbacks, 100 % positive so far.

Have had several bad ebay experiences. Worst one involving nearly $500 for a laptop which I was required to pay for with a bank money order and got cheated when the reloaded operating system did not work correctly. (Learned not to buy higher value items without protection in place.)

Had a very hard time putting in a claim with ebay after seller quit ebay rather than taking laptop back. Several months and a thick stack of paperwork and frustration later I got $175 from ebay towards replacing the operating system.

Have written one Guide for ebay Reviews and Guides out of frustration with certain replica/reproduction items presented as antiques by innocent folks and by scammers.

Thanks for this site!
