Stock price is sagging, new ventures failing to gain traction, and the CEO
reportedly is busy working on a presidential campaign. Good article on MSN.

It's an interesting read there, but the article is kind of all over the place. The first half talks about what an abyssmal reality ebay is in financially, but then goes on to talk about how they've got some serious sales and major profits going on. Huh?

The article also mentions that stock prices are less than Amazon's, and then concludes therefore that Amazon is making more money. There is a lot more than the cost of shares that determine a company's wealth, as it is also relevant as to the number of shares available. For example, a company that has 100 total shares at $50 each does not have more invested capital than say, a company with 200,000 shares at $25 each. As a matter of fact, the reduction of share costs are what made so many "Dellionaires", where the stock was split multiple times so that there'd be more shares to sell. The cost of shares plummeted due to their numbers, but this afforded the company more public trading, and made many millionaires and made Dell one of the richest companies in the world... in effect by lowering the price of shares.

Having said that, there is a lot of talk about Whitman resigning, but not because of ebay business failures, but simply because Whitman has been selling off ebay stock by the truckload. Millions of dollars of stock sold off in increments (this is a common way to bail out). Whitman owned so much of the company, that an immediate large sell off would drop the value. So, in any case, people have been speculating about Whitman leaving for some time now due to massive sales of stock on her part.

And just today, this;

The bitch is gone. Good, and I hope there are some positive changes for ebay. I doubt however that the real problems such as rip off sellers, deadbeat bidders, the broken feedback system, VERO, and other ridiculous, ***-backwards ebay policies will be fixed. As honest buyers and sellers it may not work well for us, but it works great for them, and therefore I don't see them fixing it, especially absent any real competition or alternative to ebay.

News is reporting that Whitman wants to challenge Schwarzenegger for the Governor's mansion. So we'll be seeing her all over Cali (and nationwide) if she campaigns.
